Not far away from you is Beaver Dam State Park south of Carlinville. Not a big lake, only 57 acres , but has a nice shaded campground with electric hookups. dump station. Electric motors only, so kayaks don't get tossed around without wakes. See quite a few kayaks on lake. Decent crappie lake, and caught my PB largemouth there, about 7 lbs.
