I like my times on the lake during the nights there as it’s calmer, fewer _____, and you can catch fish. However, I seldom run into anyone (which is great too) and am surprised by that.
I am a tad OCD in that I can stay out there till I literally drop but it can be rewarding.
As Im retired now, I can go most anytime but still like those Thursday or Friday nights into the next day out there … that is until around 11 AM on Saturdays.
Anyway, hadn’t said much lately so I thought I would sound off. If anyone wants to try it sometime, give me a shout. There is nothing like a big Buffalo, Carp or Catfish on a Crappie pole!
skunked again thanked you for this post
I have never fished Shelbyville at night but all the rest of your post is spot on. I don't do it anymore but have some great memories. The wife would bait up, set her pole out and read a book with her headlamp on. I would fish every jig I had quiet in the dark. Then her rod would rattle down the gunnel and she would squeal like and 8 year olds first fish. Usually she kicked my butt. I could ramble on but the special time out there was great. Thanks for the kick start on that time 40 years ago.
