Taking my 80 yr old dad on most likely his last crappie fishing trip of the year this weekend. Debating on Shelbyville or Rend. I have fished both many times just was wanting to see if anyone had some intel on which one was hotter right now. PM me if you would rather share info that way. Thanks for any responses.

I am headed to Rend tomorrow for a couple days while my son is on fall break. Hopefully we can catch a few.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
Just spent two days at Rend. I'm not a great crappie fisherman but manage to put some in the box most days. Not this trip, at least eating size. My cousins were fishing minnows while we swam jigs and long poled with LS. Just not the Rend of past years for us and even locals are saying the same. Some fisherman always find and catch some. Seems that the west bridges and stump fields were producing better. Water temps mid 60 to high 60s. Catfish were happy to eat and put up a battle.
We were there for 4 days. I will agree. We come down every year & usually do real good. We only try & keep one or 2 days limit of overs release the rest. Could only manage alot of 6-8" crappie this year. Released all to grow bigger. We did catch a few overs but they were far & few between. Nothing like the years past.

Over a decade of "Fish the Bridges" posts have done the crappie population no favors.
