BluesFan your plate being hard to see makes me recall the time
I rode around for 3 years with expired sticker completely forgot about it. The sticker was hid by the ball on the bumper.
I hope the ST plate works but I really can’t believe money grubbing ILLINOS will over look it When they are the same people who jacked the renewal up a hundred bucks
Thanks for sharing. It seems there is very little understanding of this whole deal, whether it is the title/license company, the SOS, law enforcement, or the boat owners posting on the web. Still, I have yet to find one case of anyone being fined for having an ST plate. That says a lot to me given its been a year since this whole concept started. I'm trying to keep an open mind towards both sides of the coin. But, given human nature, it sure seems likely someone would go to the web with their story of how they got screwed over for using an ST plate. After all you hear less when things go correctly and hear every detail when they do not. For example truck shopping-you would not buy a Ford, Chevy, GM. etc. if you looked only at negative posts across the web. But for every negative account there are thousands of people who don't say squat because all is good. Still, I'm trying to find a reason not to try this and failing to do so...

We have two single axle trailers, one for the boat, and a 5 x 10 flat bed, with a 2000# axle. Last year, due to the increase, we did not renew (or use) the flat bed . I recently received the renewal notice for the boat. We decided to renew the flat bed for this upcoming year. I did it online. Couple days later, the sticker shows up. When does it expire, you ask? April of 2021. Yup, you read that right! $118 for one month.
Wife called local DMV, was told you can send a letter to the state to appeal it, however, good luck. DMV mentioned these, while on the phone with them. Said if you go out of state, some LEO's may not recognize them for smaller trailers. And, as others said, for "B" or similar plates, stay under 8000# gross weight. As well as some state/local LEO's. On the other hand, A good friend is a LEO, he's fed up with this whole increase also.
We're going Friday to get ST plates for the flat bed. I'm on the fence with the boat, as I'm trying to sell it.
