Hey "Yankee" it's Grenada.
So I normally take a trip down to KY lake in late March. The past couple years, fishing has fallen off for me. Maybe it's me or Maybe it's the lake but either way, I'm seeking another destination this year. With that said, Gernada and Lake Eufala seem to be on fire. Both are about 7 or 8 hour drive from me and was wondering what you would do. Anyone out there fished both lakes in the last couple years in the early spring? Also, lodging and food are factors in this decision. We'll be on vacation and WON"T be cooking. Thanks in advance for chiming in? But remember, KY lake is out...That decision is final so this conversation is NOT about KY Lake.

Grenada. They wouldn't have the big tourneys there if it wasn't the spot.
Well...Grenada is 4 for 4. But welcome more comments. Thanks all who chimed in but as anyone following what Todd Huckabee is doing on Eufala? Just an fyi....I did look up the crappie masters tournament results for this year and compared the Grenada results vs Eufala. Good lord those are grown fish down in Mississippi.
You will be hard pressed to find a class of crappie anywhere in the country that grenada consistently kicks out. That being said it can be a very humbling lake. Don’t go excepting to have 100 fish days. I consider it a lake for quality. Might get 5 bites all day might get 85 but you can about guarantee they gonna be some donkeys. You have Sardis 45 minutes away from grenada and Enid 30 minutes from grenada. Both are also fantastic lakes with giants in them as well. Generally those lakes will kick out a few more numbers than grenada. As for food and accommodations if you’re thinking of a spring trip you need to book ASAP. All the state parks on the lakes have some cabins I believe and the hotels are pretty cheap too. Food wise batesville has a good few food joints as does grenada. Lots of folks try to make it to como and munch on the steak there. It’s pretty dang good. All locations are under an hour from grenada. I don’t have any information for eufala

She can definitely humble you anytime of the year, but the spring can and will do quickly.
2nd, if your watercraft is not of 18' or larger, you honestly need to reconsider any of the Big 4 lakes. They all pretty much run West to East, and the winds can get really bad really quick. They can generate 4-5 swells very quickly, and the ramps are legends in swamping and taking boats.
If your boat is a little small, I would suggest going to Lake Washington. You will not be disappointed! Those fish are "grown" as well. This area is more secluded than the others, but can be in Greenville, MS in about 25 minutes. You won't be disappointed.

Rob, Hands down the BIG-4 or Washington! If you have flexibility of time to go down will help also. Watch the weather and run down., or plan and hope you get a few good days of fishing in... shout at me if you need any help. Be glad to help out.

Rob, the one thing you want to consider is the fact that the big 4 are flood control lakes. I have been caught by high water 2 different times there. If you have non-refundable reservations you can be out of luck. I saw Grenada rise 5 feet in one 24 hr period the first time down and then about 8 more feet during the next week. It really made it hard. Last year, and those of you down there correct me about the amount, I think Enid was 23 feet over curve. That creates a bunch of new water to search. You may want to check how stable Euffala is. It may make a difference. That being said I still take a chance on the big 4.
