Sorry, read your post wrong. I've only fished for trout at highland old City lake, it's only 10 minutes away.
I didn't fish it for trout this past year. It sounds like I didn't miss much either. The past couple years, I haven't seen enough people trout fishing it too matter. The years before that, you couldn't cast without hitting someone else's line.
