    Default Newton lake

Anyone having any luck crappie fishing at Newton lake? I don't have a boat and just wondering where some general area to bank fish that is easily accessible? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If I remember correctly, that lake has struggled with crappie in the past. May be better now.

Not sure of your location but southeast of Newton is Red Hills lake. Lots of bank fishing for crappie and red ear

Thanks for the info on Red Tail lake. I live in Olney and been catching crappie from the bank here at East Fork lake. This past Sunday the parking lot was full of boats at Newton lake, bass fisherman from what I found out. I'll definitely try Red Tail cuz like it was said, very easily accessible from the bank.

Have you had any luck lately at Red Tail? I'll be fishing from the bank, any certain area of that lake better then others? I have no clue about that lake as well as East Fork?

I havent been there this year yet. I fish from a boat so I dont know where good spots are from the bank. There is lot of places to fish from. 4 docks on the lake. i am guessing the point over where the veterans memorial is might be good. I see lot of ppl fish there and the docks.

I'd head north to Sam Parr St Pk instead of Red Hills. Don't see many repeat customer's at Red Hills like I do at Sam Parr. Red Hill seems to have had trouble coming back after it was drained about 8 to 10 years ago. Heard some PVC attractors were put in at RH a while back so that will help.

biggest problem with red hill is about 5 or 6 yrs ago. it got fished hard real hard. it had some real nice bluegills and everyone found out. we was up there on memorial day weekend. boats everywhere. no place to park. got talking to a guy and he was telling me him and his wife took home 60 that day and 100 the day before and if everyone does that and the size of the lake it becomes what it is now. weeds is its problem too. its great for fish to hide in but when your in 10 ft of water and you see weeds at the top of water and the sonar screen is nothing but weeds. it needs a change but with no money from the state its not gonna change. sam parr is a pretty good lake i havent been up there in couple yrs.
