Never was impressed with hummingbird, I like my Lowrance have 7 inch HDS touch on console to locate structure and fish have Hook 7 on bow use it mainly to follow contour lines and get depth also when trolling for eyes I mark the fish on bow unit before they strike. When I fish with my buddy in his boat I really miss the structure scan the touch unit is a lot more user friendly than the non touch units. Just personal preference and what you are used to.

Might want to take a look at the new Garmin units. I have one and really like it. Comes preloaded with over 13000 lakes. Even has some Il Conservation Area Lakes!

If you would like to maybe you could hop in the boat with me sometime and I can show you what
my Lowrance setups is and you can see what it does then maybe one of the humminbird guys can
take you out so you can compare the 2

If you have a Minn Kota trolling motor I think Humming Bird is better. If you are Motor Guide then maybe Lawrance. If you don't mind replacing your existing trolling motor then evaluate the electronics and pic the one you like best.

Depends on the $ you want to spend. If you can afford the touch screen model then by all means purchase one. One good piece of advice about buying computers (which a fish finder is) always buy the newest technology you can afford. I just recently purchased the Garmin 94SV because for what I was after and could afford it was most definitely the best value. My first was a Lowrance Elite 5 DSI convinced I needed to by a Lowrance after owning one I am convinced by what U want that is in your $ range
