    Default LAKE MATTOON

Has anyone been getting out lately? Heard the Crappie bite was Red Hot dragging weighted Spinner Rigs in 11 fow. Thinking about heading there this weekend instead of the Ville. My uncle and my cousin are heading there today to scout it. I'll post pics if they get into them!

Toad you keep confusing me, I spent my whole life thinkin' crankbaits was for bass and spinners were for walleye!!! Id be curious to hear what the keeper-dink ratio is doing this. I get tired of weeding thru them this time of year out there. Good luck

Well this is something I hear a lot about confusing people. I guess I'll just have to put ya on the boat sometime and show ya a couple different rigs that catch what ever swims. LOL. Only rule is all guest have to be blind folded till we reach our destination!! Ha ha. Tight lines man. Stay tuned for pics!!

Hey Toad seen your uncle at the ramp. We shared a few fish stories had a few laughs on headed out fishing. The crappie bite was real good in the morning and slow up until we fished the bridge in the afternoon. We were fishing 8-10 with minnows spider rigging. Light boat traffic and winds. Water temps in the 80's everywhere we went. This lake is a crappie factor with many good years to come. Hope you can make it down to fish this weekend..enjoy

We do agree one thing.. The sticker for you boat is to high. They use to let you pay by the day but not anymore. I have fished this lake for years and it has its cycles but overall a great fishery.

Just like any smaller lake, actually a little pressure might be good for it, always seemed overpopulated to me. But I'm far from a fisheries biologist.
