    Default Kinkaid 7/22-7/23

Put down my bass rods for a little bit to get on some crappie and they are definitely biting, went out Saturday morning and fished from 6:30-10:30 and put a limit in the boat plus threw back at least 15 keepers since I already had my limit. Took my gf out Sunday morning and fished from 6:30 -11 and kept around 35 and a 10 # flathead, we could've easily kept a limit by 11 if we had wanted to but that was more than I needed so I bet we threw back at least 25 more keepers. Catching them anywhere from 8-18 foot deep on drop shot rigs rigged with minnows fishing 18" off the bottom. Caught several fish in the 11-12" range and biggest was just shy of 2 pounds. New motor is running great swampseed and i definitely like the 4 stroke compared to the 2 stroke I used to have. When you get back from your trip we need to hit up Kinkaid one day and I'll meet you out there after work.

Nats- for LM I would start by ripping a rattle trap through any grass, a 10" worm in or on the edge of grass. Have had luck with a 0-2' crank.
Would highly recommend a 6-9" muskie subsurface crank. Big spinnerbait also.
Dang, now I'm wanting to get back down their!
    Drinkin coffee, missin fish.

Bite is tough on bass and crappie after the front came through Thursday. I fished a bass tourney Friday evening and not a lot caught, it was the worst weigh in we've had this summer. Lots of boats got skunked and to be honest it's probably the worst I've ever seen it this time of year. I caught some decent fish earlier last week before the front on the edge of grass on points in 6-10 fow on 10" worm and had a few others came off stumps in 12-15 foot range as well. Far as crappie go I'd try minnows on brush piles in 12-15, but with this cool weather they may have moved back up in the grass so if you can't find them in the brush I'd try in the grass about 4-6 deep

    Thanks skunked & Mitch!

I hope the effects of the cold front is over by time I get there tomorrow!

Haven't used rattle traps since my days going to Toledo Bend & Fork lakes in Texas

Ill let you all know how it is!

    Thanks for the info,

    Nats
