Lake Mattoon is giving up some nice fish.
Here are a few of the nicer fish from last evening. Started out tightlining minnows and then, just because I love throwing jigs, I switched to jigs and caught fish both ways. I did seem to catch bigger fish with the minnows though.

Checked the info about Lake Mattoon on the computer, because it's within a
close distance. Got sticker shock when I found out it costs $60.00 for a permit
to launch and fish there. That's as bad as Lake Sara down in Effingham. Would
have liked to give it a try, but I think I'll pass.

I think it's less for a daily pass. I have a place on the lake with my dock and boat lift so I get my moneys worth, but I know what you're saying. If you want to try the lake sometime, give me a shout and we'll take my boat out. I'm gone a lot because of my granddaughters sports but we can work out a time.
