    Default Evergreen or Banner Marsh


    Kids all grown up and now it's my time. Just finishing fixing up a 14 ft jon boat I have added floor, front deck, foot controlled trolling motor and a Lowrance Hook 7 for lake fishing. I have both a 25 HP and 9.9 so I can fish most of the smaller lakes. I am wanting to head out next Tuesday to either Banner Marsh or Lake Evergreen for Crappie. I haven't fished either so any preferences or help would be much appreciated. I live in East Peoria so no much difference to travel to either one.

    I prefer Evergreen for just Crappie fishing. Banner more for Bass, but that's just me.

    Banner has some nice crappie but it will take you a lot of time to locate their haunts. Evergreen first to slime the new boat up

    Welcome Redbird.
    I too live in EP, Shut school area. Either lake will be good. I think it is easier to find fish on Evergreen, however Banner can produce size. I'm planning on heading to Banner Saturday morning. Could meet you out there and point out a few places if you would like. Bring a map from google for Banner and I'll mark up some spots for you. Bring a google map of Evergreen and I'll mark a couple spots on it too.

    When you get interested, join HOI Crappie Club. We hold tournaments on both lakes, plus a few more in the area. Part of the reason Ill be on banner this weekend is to pre-fish for our next tournament.

    Autochart Pro. I don't just have a map. I have detailed maps with contour lines and sonar playback with submerged cover. I got it all baby...
