    Default Truly want to know

Not trying to start a fight here. I just want to understand. How can Illinois crappie fishermen use spider rigs . The fishing regulations state max of 2 poles per angler.

On the Corp lakes you are allowed to use 3 poles while trolling, any poles over 2 have to be labeled with your name and address. There really isn't a 2 pole limit by the state on city lakes, they just have imposed that limit themselves

Ice fishing and trolling state you may use three rods with no more than two hooks each. Says nothing about being tagged.

SPORTFISHING LICENSE A sport fishing license entitles an angler to harvest fish, crayfish, turtles or bullfrogs within limits denoted in the Statewide Harvest and Size Limits Table, except for endangered and threatened aquatic life. It is unlawful to sell any aquatic life, or parts thereof, taken by a sport fishing license. Aquatic life may be taken by hand or other legal devices permitted by the sport fishing license which includes: pole and line, bank pole and line, dip net throw line, trot line, buoyed device (jug fishing), or other legal devices not exceeding 50 hooks in total (except as noted under “Ice Fishing” section). Also permitted are legal-sized cast nets, shad scoops and minnow seines for bait fishing. Smelt may be taken in Lake Michigan with legal size dip nets, gill nets and seines. Two untagged sport fishing devices are allowed; each device in excess of two must be tagged with the angler’s name and address. If attached to a tree, the device must be attached only to the main trunk below the water line. All unattended devices must be marked with the angler’s name and address.

TROLLING Trolling is permissible, provided the angler has not more than three poles and lines with not more than two hooks or lures on each.

I am not a fan wish it would be eliminated really dislike when watching pros fishing this way. Not a big fan of trolling either but to each there own as long as it is legal. Also don't care to watch fishing shows with guides and pros loading coolers with fish I would think that with there knowledge of the lakes they fish and the amount they fish that on the shows they would catch and release. If you need a meal or some for the freezer great but when you fish for a living I doubt that you lack for fresh fish. When we destroy the resource then we complain about the limits applied. just my opinion.

If I couldn't spider rig or pull cranks I would probably give up fishing as I really don't like to single pole. If a fish is of legal size you should keep it as they are meant to be harvested, if we didn't we would have lakes full of stunted 7 inch fish.

Take the return address labels you get from DU or other organizations you support Place the labels at the base of the rods above the grib then cover with clear nail polish

I've not seen a show that keeps all the fish ? I've watched some that do keep a few to eat most of these then cook these same fish on the show sharing a recipe. I pull cranks I spider rig single pole jig. You name it I'm no pro not even a average fisherman. I enjoy fishing and teaching my kids as well as learning from others
Nothing better than spending the day on the lake then a good meal cooked outside and hanging out around the camp fire with friends and family Just my 2 cents
