Default Anywhere I can have a broken line guide replaced locally ?? Bloomington/Normal area

My Son likes to use my Dad's old Ugly Stik casting rod and the third guide has broken off. I'm from the Bloomington/Normal area, and would like to have it repaired. I checked with Smiley's, but they no longer offer this service.

If you don't find somebody....get some thread the right color and wrap it yourself. Now here is the key..the last step is to take some clear 5 minute 2 part epoxy and like a toothpick or very small screwdriver, and ease that epoxy on the threads good and even a little up on the eye supports. The epoxy is thick but as it dries just rotate the rod a little to make it even out until it drys.Just mix enough to do one side at a time until you've done a couple. No matter how good a job you do wrapping when that epoxy dries she is locked on.If you're the creative type can probably do near professional job...I am a little cave man so mine are functional if not exactly beautiful.

I always save the eyes off of old rods I don't want or break.Just bag em up and I can usually find one about right. You can of course buy sets too. I have hand built snagging poles out of calcutta cane that get abused beyond nuts,....last for years and years and eyes hold.

Call Paul Center as mentioned in a previous post. He has been building repairing rods for decades. He also guides in the area and up north in the summer. Talked to him at numerous Fishing shows over the years, good guy.
