It's open but water was pretty low. May want to go back to Alton or I prefer Marquette.
I am wanting to some boating on the River next weekend. I haven't been on there in several years and we always would put in at piasa harbor and idle out to the channel and go from there. I've had someone tell me that you can still put in at Piasa and I've had other tell me that the public ramp is closed. Last week we put in in Alton and ended up running up a few miles past Grafton. That will work again but was just looking for some place a little closer to Grafton but not in Grafton. Any one have any info on best ramp to use?

Aren't I going to have an issue with the Asian carp up there? Like I said, up until last week, it has been several years since I had been on the river so I haven't ever had to deal with them yet so i'm pretty ignorant about them.
They are everywhere in the river. No worse up there than Alton or Grafton.
you could also try in-between Alton and Pere Marquette by ramping in at Grafton. Pretty fast there usually - but a nice big ramp and parking lot. I used to use Piasa a lot - but it's gotten so silted in - it's a bit of risk - especially if you go out and upstream. Almost better to go downstream and out and around Piasa Island. You could also go across the bridge and ramp in a Lincoln Shields - but I haven't use that ramp either for awhile. I think they lowered the gates at 26 so the pool should be coming up a bit now. Good luck and have a safe weekend. (and oh yeah - enjoy the Asian Carp - can't get away from 'em)
I drove through there a couple weeks ago (the public piasa boat ramp) and couldn't believe how bad it has gotten. The wooden walkways are gone, they would be sitting on top of about 3' of mud anyway. Lots of boat trailers at the Grafton ramp, the current can make loading obviously more difficult.
