    Default Shabbona Question.

    Hello, folks.

So, my 9 year old boy wants to try for some panfish this weekend at Shabbona lake in Northern Illinois. Bluegills/crappie would be great. We will be in a canoe with one of the newer bluetooth fish finders. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of structure and or depth we should try to fish to see some potential crappie action? I was thinking slip bobber setup with small jigs tipped with wax worms or minnows? I would love some tips as I only accidentally run into a crappie now and then and have never had much success targeting them. Thanx!

    Matt

Matt I have no info for the water you are asking about. Last weekend I saw several guys fishing 3 to 5 feet from rip rap water edge catching lots of crappie on Lake Shelbyville. Cork 18 in deep close to the shore.
    Welcome aboard.

Fish the cribs along the shore by the boat launches. You can get a map of them from the bait shop. Minnows under a float have been working.......at least until i get there.
