Rend & Egypt - Not so good for catching crappie
Spent the weekend with my mom and dad (bigskyfisherman). They don't live near me so when I get a chance to fish with them it is cherished time.
Fished Rend on Saturday and dodged the rain and wind for a little bit then called it a day. Caught about 4 small crappie in about 13 ft of water. Tried the buck brush and caught about 10 small males in the brush on minnows, 1 channel cat and 1 large mouth bass. Was my 1st time to fish the buck brush and it was very fun. We then tried fishing at night with some submerged lights. We caught a bunch of dink crappie. These small fish were the fattest crappie I have ever seen! Was a lot of fun. I just wish there were some larger crappie. Jigs seemed to work just as well as minnows for the night fishing
Decided to try Lake of Egypt on Sunday. Was a very nice day on the water but the crappie did not cooperate. I've only been on Egypt one other time and didn't manage to catch any crappie on that trip either. We heard news from plenty of people the bit was on at Egypt. I guess I need to learn the lake more.
I did manage a few Large mouth bass that were descent size and a couple of blue gill.
In the end I have some more memories of time with mom and dad fishing. It sure is nice to be able to enjoy crappie fishing even if there isn't much catching happening. This keeps me coming back every chance I get, because I know I will enjoy my time fishing no matter how many crappie end up in the Crisco lake.

Sorry about the fishing but good to hear you had a good time with your parents. Wish I still had mine.
