Yep, mine had some in the ones I cleaned too. Prodominately the black crappie. Interested to see what we find out here.
the crappie I caught from sangchris today had skinny red worms curled up in the fillets . what are they ?should you throw them away? they were all curled up in a ball and hard to see. they looked like a small red spot but when you cut them out they are long and real thin.

Its just a parasite. I see them all the time. Cut them out and throw the fillet in 350 degree grease and you will never know the difference.

Biologists say if the meat is thoroughly cooked they won't hurt you, still not very appetizing though. I don't remember if its the red worms or yellow grubs or the black worms, but they supposedly come from Kingfisher feces, which then infect snails somehow and either the fish eat the snails or the snail acts as a host for the parasite, the worms hatch in the water and then infect the fish, some process though involving Kingfishers and snails.

the perch up north have tons of the little worms in them.
extra protein, heard almost all freshwater fish have parasites.thats why they only use saltwater for sushi.the ones you can see are a little scary.
