    Default Shelbyville 4-13

Mean ol shild made me work saturday so I could only make it the the lake sunday. Forced myself to fish spots I had not fished this year yet and explore looking for new spots the should be holding fish in a few weeks. I fished from eagle creek to findlay bridge and had my limit off of a few spots I definitely didnt expect them to be yet. I concentrated on brush in the 2-5ft range and then in the 8-12ft range. Most all of the 8-12ft range spots held fish while only a few in the 2-5ft held fish for me. This could have been due to the front pushing through too. I was using a red/chartreuse and florescent green slab stalker from hookitbait on an 8th oz head. Water temps were 56-59 for the most part from what I found. There is fish moving in to spawn right now but these are the black crappies...they spawn several degrees earlier than white crappies. I found lots of small males in some spawning areas with a few good females mixed in. I also spider rigged double minnow rigs out at the mouths of some coves and caught some really nice female white crappie doing this. I realize there are some bank fisherman doing pretty well as of late, but for the most part they are fishing a particular area that produced year in year out. However, if I could give one piece of advice for those going from boat right now it is if you're fishing brush piles you need to be patient and for the most part dont expect to catch many from each spot. Catch a few and then move on because thats all that has been in them as of late. Just need to keep moving and really work a pile over good. If I were going this week I would concentrate on the mid depth ranges from findlay bridge north and east (8-12ft) and if I were fishing findlay south I would concentrate on 12-25ft depths and look for suspended fish. Anyways, thats about all I have right now. I hadnt posted a good detailed report in a while so here yall go. Go get em!

Here is my mess of crappie from sunday.

Birdie-- Got my limit of overs in about an hour and a half in a whole new spot. 2-3 foot deep 1/8 oz jig red/chart. below a cork. Dog gone bank fishin is fun. And Z-20 it did happen but Most people know what 10 fish on a stringer look like. Hard to take a selfie while holding up a stringer. Ha.

Great report Bird. May try spider rigging or vertical jigging later this week.
