Went today, ran around entire lake and only ended up with 6. Fished in Xmas Tess sets, stumps, rocks and laydowns. It was very slow!

Ah yes. Rend Lake. We did real well there this past spring and summer. Carlyle is just a bit closer. I was there a few weeks ago and everyone was saying it should start heating up soon.

During the 80's and early 90's I would have laughed at you for that statement. Now days you are spot on unfortunately. Didn't even crappie fish Carlyle this year. Did very good last year at Carlyle, but one of the above mentioned lakes had me busy this year. The white bass fishing was outstanding on Carlyle this summer with large fish, not the minnows I see come out of the lakes north and south of it.
