    Default Savanna/Pool 13 area

Looking for information on Miss. River Pool 13 area, Spring Lake and Sabula Lake. Want to try and catch a few spring time crappies. Have a new boat and need to break it in. Thanks. I have a fishing hot spot map to get started with.

Well at the moment it's still a bit early for the spawn to start. River is coming up now so if it stays up for a few weeks you should be able to get a few somewhere. Spring lake is pretty tough in the spring usually. I haven't been part of it but the last few years guys have caught them good in S. Sabula lake along the rocks on the east side of the lake as soon as we get some warm sunny days. The river changes all the time and you never know where you might get them.

I haven't been on the river in that area lately, but my neighbor was really grumbling about how bad the fishing's been in that area over the last week. He's a green carp chaser though, so I don't pay his reports much if any mind. I think it will be a good 10 days or so until the Crappie bite turns on good. The coming full moon coupled with some warmer weather should perk 'em up enough to catch a good mess of them in the back water areas. I like the Sabula area too... better than Spring lake IMO. Don't overlook the Rock Creek areas, or Sunfish Slough either! Big bites, full baskets, and God's blessings to ya!

Watch for debris in the water after all of this rain. I heard Pool 12 is flooded. Sring lake and the IL River are not that far from each other as a crow flies.
