    Default Lake Sara

Does anyone on the Illinois forum fish Lake Sara (Effingham). Started fishing this year, finding some small ones, any suggestions, hints or tips. I am primarily use jigs as minnows are more expensive then gas and gas is expensive.

    Thanks in advance.

Been down there a few times, usually just cast-shot-the docks. There is tons of structure in that lake, a good fish finder show put u on plenty of crappies.

like jax said fish the docks, but its really not worth your time u will catch 50 fish between 7-9 inches before u get one around 10 inches.

    D,

I live in Effingham, nice lake before Memorial Day and After Labor Day to fish. Some nice crappie are taken out of Sara.
But, You have to buy an EWA permit --I think around 75.00 and then you have a 4.00 launch permit. They really don't
want us to fish Sara. Dock Fishing is what you'll find though. I stopped fishing Sara a few years ago when they raised the EWA
fee. Shelbyville is by far a better lake.

I live in Effingham too. Have got the EWA tag. Don't have lots of spare time due to travel for work. It's close.. when you fished it, any particular cove or bank would be best to try?

    Talking Lake Sara

Fished it last fall not impressed in that area I would reccomend Mill creek lot more structure that the crappie like. Most people are fishing for bass so the crappie don't get a lot of pressure did not get any great size but numbers were good. Lake egypt good size quality fish but our timing was bad.LOL:D
