    Default Decal Removal on fiberglass

Got my new numbers & il. tag for boat but the old Ohio tag is like a piece of tin foil that says VOID. Reg. num. came off fine but this tag is paper thin. Dont't want to damage clear coat on boat. Any sugg. on what I can use to get this tag off!! It's like its welded to the boat, paper thin foil & my finger nails ain't that great

Look at Farm and Fleet near the registers there are cheap .99 cent tools. There is a razor blade scraper that is small with a black handle. It is metal so it is sturdy.
I had to take Indiana numbers and sticker off mine for Illinois. If you angle the blade and set it up against the sticker and rock it back and forth easy it will come loose then just finish with the blade or pull loose with your fingers. I used some goo gone also to get rid of residue then i sprayed it down with liquid wax.

take a hair dryer and heat it up, the glue will get soft, then peel it off.

Ditto. I've done that. Comes off ALOT easier that way.

Do that and you can clean off any residue with lighter fluid. Won't hurt the fiberglass.

Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

    Default What I did

Hair dryer and plastic scraper that we use in the kitchen. Got it good and hot and it came right off. Goo Gone to get the residue off afterwards.

The best stuff I've used is Goo Gone. Just wet the entire surface of the sticker and let it set for awhile. It should peel off without using any kind of scraper. I certainly would not use a razor blade. If it comes down to scraping it off, try a plastic putty knife..!Hands Clapping

Vinyl professionals will tell you to use a hear gun or hair dryer. If residue is present you can also use a 50/50 vinegar and water solution to clean it and it is all natural and won't harm the fiberglass.
