    Default Evinrude E-tech

Does anyone have any feedback on the evinrude e-tech outboards? I know a couple of years ago they were getting a bad rap. I'm in the process of looking and one of the boats I've come across has an e-tech on it.

Buddy of mine has a '07 60 HP tiller on his 18' PolarKraft. He seems to like it pretty well, and it has always started and ran well in any condition. Only problem he has had with it was last month while we were in Kansas, duck hunting, it wouldn't start. He had shut it off to push the boat through shallow water, and when he tried to restart it.....nothing. Fortunately it happened on our last morning hunt and with me and my rig close by. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump.

I have a 90 horse 2009 etec and think its a great motor so far. It starts real easy, is very quiet, no smoke at all, and is very easy on fuel. If you run in the winter, they recommend using the XD100 oil. I use it year round and have had zero problems so far.

I am sure it is like every other Outboard out there. Every one has had a good experience and or a bad one. I believe if you keep up the service intervals (By the look of your old Boat that is not an issue with you) and run it properly with a good high octance oil You should be fine. I have never ran one but talked to people who own them and they like em.

I've heard that the warranty is good, but what good is a warranty when you want to fish and your boat is in the shop.

I dont own a e-tech but yhe only problem i've heard of is the neutral safety switch. I had to pull a boat in from hunting 1 day. My buddy has a 60hp no problems at all. I believe if you take care of it,it will take care of you.good luck

Any of 'em can go in the shop for problems at any time. Just happens. I'd want a motor with the best warranty if I was buying new.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
