Default Last Two Days and Nights

Starting to see more and more crappie on main lake suspending in about 12-16 feet. Water temperature are in the low 80's and climbing. Look for bait fish at same depth and crappie will be just below the shad. If water flow is shut down like it was last week because of all the rains we had these fish will scatter and move up in the flooded bushes and weeds. When they open the gates back up they will move back out and let the current bring them dinner but the crappie don't stay out in deep water all day they will move up early in morning and late in the evening then stay out most of the day suspending in the depths mention above. This kind of fishing is a lot of fun but it takes a few dollars to get started trolling crank baits. There is a lot a good info on the Mississippi board on pulling and pushing your baits. Night fishing is also a good way to catch crappie and beat the heat and boat traffic. We use a floating light and tight line a minnow on main lake points in 12-18 ftw. There is a lot of different lights on the market now that work good also. Happy Forth of July everyone.... enjoy

Ken - Thanks for the report. I haven't tried any night fishing since the late 70's, but did well back the those days.

Ken... Yes night fishing still works and a lot cooler

Ranger... we troll bandit 200 in any shad color and the fat free shad work real well to.

Thanks everyone for the kind response
