What type of boat do you have?

Bethany Boat ramp is nothing but a sand bar going into the lake. It is also shallow and full of stumps in this area. Not recommened if you do not know the lake.

If you have decent boat I would recommend whitley creek and or Bo woods boat ramps. These are close to the Bethany Ramp. YOu can stay in Sullivan, Mattoon and or Shelbyville there is many hotels to stay at do an internet search.

At the Whitley Creek and or Bo woods ramp you will have to a pay 3.00 dollar launch fee per day.

Also please consider wolf creek or eagle creek boat ramps also. The water may be clearer from these ramps.

Do a google maps search this should lead you to any boat ramp from 57. They made a new off ramp I think it is called county road 1000n that you can get off of from 57. Just stay on that road you will hit 121. You will see coles station. (Grain bins and such) Just go straight over the tracks. You should be on Bruce Findlay Road. This will take you to 32. Howys lakeside gas station will be on your right. Then you can cross 32 and go to the turn off for whitley creek or turn right on 32 and this will take you to the turn off for bo woods.

If you have anything bigger than a jon-boat, you do not want to launch at Bethany. If the lake goes a foot or two higher, you would be all right. If you want to fish the river, this is a good choice, but if you want to fish the north end of the lake, I'd launch at wilborn creek.

You may be able to launch There then I have a 18 foot express and I was able to launch there but it was very tricky. The creek is shallow at the current time watch the stumps water has started to raise up into this area. Good Luck to ya.

Easiest way is go to google maps, type in exactly this 39.607671, -88.728363 you should see a whole lot of water and a road that says N1400 E450, that white area just below in the middle of those two road indicators is Bethany access. That pic is from last year when we had a lot of water. Hit the directions button that is below N1400 and type your address in the top section then hit Get directions and there you have it...
