Not living in the ice belt most bait shops dont keep bait during the winter. I can find worms and night crawlers so I use what I can. Occasionally I will find some mill worms.
Hi
Wondering what everyone prefers to use for live bait while ice fishing.

What are you fishing for??? For crappies I use small minnow on my tip downs and jig with red spikes, or wax worms

Top performer for me are red spikes- fishing for crappie & gills - dynamite when teamed up with a Pink Ratso
I prefer to use just plastics but if I need to use live bait, it will be waxworms, maggots, or minnows. In that order.
