Dont know about that unit, but I used to use a lowrance 520 with never a problem. Probably be fine. You dont have to drill to install the transducer, just pour a little water on top of the ice and it will shoot thru the ice
Last year I picked up a Fish Buddy by Hummingbird (portable fish finder) with a bass raider boat I bought. Has anyone ever tried to us one of these on the ice?. The reviews say they will work through the ice. I was wondering of the cold would effect the screen? Waiting for ice in Monroe.

Also take a gps along with you. If you trip over a good spot it can be a nightmare to find that same spot again.
If your needing a battery, look at cabelas rechargable. This little battery runs the 520 along with the gps antanna all day with power to spare.
Surprising no larger than it is. 4x6x2.5 wide
I seen a video on youtube of a guy ice fishing with one seemed to treat him good being he was catching fish.
i put mine in an old cooler with mower batt. i put pipe insulation on ducer cable to float it in the hole. i did ruin one in the 90s with too much cold. it was 10* and the screen went black. when i thawed out it had lines threw it and they stayed. i hear the newer ones are ok though. i still put one on those hand warmer deals in the cooler under it, just in case. they work just fine.
