    NO they aren't. I just got some Northland Impulse soft plastics. Went out today and was sure the ice would be safe. NOPE!!! Its been below freezing for over a week and had acouple nights in single digits. Not even close to safe ice yet.

    We've been ice fishing for 3 weeks in Colton NY (11" of ice on Sunday), the crappie have been very active so far.

    X3. If you put the tails on a tungsten jig it gets down the hole faster. Sometimes you have to change color a few times to see what they want that day. I find the red tails work well and the sparkly, glow white one is my favorite. But sometimes green is the ticket. Finicky little buggers.

    Jordy, Depends on what your fishing for, Bluegill will take anything from a small jig to spoons tipped with a wax worm. I bought some chubby darters (small) for crappie and was surprised how well it worked. My flasher would be blank and after jigging the darter three or four time marks would show up, then working the marks they would take and crappie on the ice. I don't have that many areas that have crappie in them but the ponds that do it seems to work. My thoughts only. Good luck hope you have a good season on the ice.
