Check out the Iowa forum. There have been a few positive reports out of there in the recent past, but nothing I have seen about the ice. Lots of crappies in Iowa, shouldn't be too hard to find some.
I like to head out on the ice this weekend. Just wondering if anybody in central Iowa area know where the crappie are biting the best and what the ice conditions are?
Remember, I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together!

Go to Ice Fishing IceShanty.com -Home and check the Iowa board. Always good info there.
The winter season is ideal for catching more crappie. In early winter Crappie is found in the same
places where they were just prior to ice up. Just try to locate them in shallow weeds and just
off the weed line.
Welcome
We invite you to the wonderful, tax hungry state of Nebraska too! There are monster crappies to be found.

Where are these monster crappie you speak of in NE? I'd say KS destroys us in huge crappie hands down. In lakes you want to find the 'monsters' there's usually a 10" minimum. Unless you go way out west.
Jordy, I won't disagree with you. Though I have not fished KS, I have seen reports and pics of nice sized crappies in quantity down there. I typically target crappie when I fish. When speaking of monsters- I'll refer to a handful of lakes that I have a good amount of experience with- Branched Oak, Wanahoo, Summit, Lake Bennington. I've caught numerous crappie in the 14-16" range from these lakes. And have seen 17-18"crappie pulled from a couple. By no means on every cast but enough consistently to know they exist without me having to travel much over an hour out of Omaha.
