That is something I want to do before I die. Bull elk with my bow. I might start looking into it. When do they draw for out of state tags?
Congratulations: John, Job well done. This winter there was 3000 head of Elk 5 miles from my house. Those of you that are thinking about going Elk Hunting Idaho is the place to check out. I took out 5 people who had permits and they all killed Elk. My wife killed her first Elk last year and shes 64 years old. My rancher friend has 800 Elk on his place as of this writting. There were 25 Bulls killed off his ranch last year. That was out of 1500 Elk that stayed around all winter.

She done good! It looks like she picked the best eating elk out of the herd. I always look for a young cow, preferably a heifer. That's good elk huntin weather.

I have always been interested in Elk Hunting with my bow, however, I am the type of guy that likes to do things myself. Never wanted to go pay a high dollar guide to "help" me out (Although they are very helpful to most people and would probably be a big help to me but I am too dang hard headed).
Thank you Ken Jones for the link and the info. That sounds great. Im really going to look into it.
Any of you Crappie boys want to put together a hunt with Ken I'm in. Ken I am interested but am getting too old to hunt alone. I've killed Elk in Wyoming and Colorado but never a bull. I'm 45 and work outside and love wild country. Just let me know if there is a camp or group I can tag along with. Also what gear I would need. I know you cut expenses when you group hunt and the work load is easier.
