Never thought about that as a source
Tuesday I went to the MCJROTC unit at the local high school and cleaned the tin .177 pellets from the range room. My bathroom scale shows 34 pounds with a 5 gallon bucket.
Wednesday afternoon I built a fire in the pit. Laid a steel rod across and a grate on top. Placed the dutch oven on and filled with spent pellets. As the pot heated I was able to empty the bucket. Added more wood. When the pellets were melted I added a scoop of sawdust to flux. Stirred, scraped the sides and bottom. Spooned out the trash. Fluxed, scraped and spooned again. Got 28 cornbread sticks that are roughly 1 lb each.
I'll set up the production pot and cast 1, 2 and 3 oz sinkers. Label them as tin for use when needed.
If you cast and find voids in the finished product a little tin added will help.
