Avian bird flu?
Haven't seen or heard a male turkey in 4 days. Only seeing a few hens and only one at a time. Had hens come in and interact with my calls and decoy. It's like the rest disappeared over a very large area.

Aint many turkeys around the lakes I fish anymore. I used to hear gobblers all around the lakes and now nothing. DNR dropped raccoons from the game species list and they encourage trapping and killing all that you can catch. I'm sure the 'yotes gets plenty of the poults and nesting hens too.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

That's pretty normal here in N FL...setting time for the hens. They aren't too social right now. Gobblers can move around farther looking for receptive hens. Not always though, some do some wont.

Thanks, guys, just speculating. This would be ultra early for all the hens to be nesting. Even then, I would still be seeing toms somewhere. Really a different situation than normal.

A friend has invited me to hunt his farm where he typically sees 40-50 birds. We saw 8 birds today, half were toms. I'm hunting there tomorrow, those numbers are still better than I've been seeing.

Agree many hens may be sitting, but not all day long. Heard one gobbler this morning. Responded to calls but never waivered from his line of travel. 30 mile drive thru prime turkey territory and no birds spotting. Just not normal. Here anyway.
