the big fellas are out and about , seen several this last weekend ,
one that did not allow me to get a picture was ....an...
ESPECIALLY LARGE specimen , man was he big ....
looked part ostrcih to me , prolly a hybrid
this bird is on our place and he hangs around every spring in there .
he is an old timer for sure , been watching him a few years now
    sure is a pretty gobbler
p.s. might be double bearded too ....just saying

Heard em gobbling down the holler last night when I was herding chickens to the coop. We usually have a field full of struttin in March.

Gotta love this time of year. The first longbeard of Spring showed up behind the house today. The hens have been here for about 2 weeks. Yesterday's rain brought the creek up high enough that I won't be able to cross to check the trail camera for a few days. I'll share pics when I can.

I might go with my grandson this year on the family ranch (he got him a new 410) and lives about 45 minutes from where this tom lives , me could care less about killing them myself these days and the birds on our place are for SURE marked safe from us shooting at them ....
but going with him is a whole different story for sure ,,,,at 5 , he is about right to drag around well ....
not sure if he can actually handle that there 410 though , last few 410 shotguns I shot , kicked like mules .....

Look forward to seeing the young man with a big tom! I agree some of the smaller framed shotguns can kick harder than a full frame steel 12 ga! I have a single shot 20 ga that wishes nothing more than to punish its user haha. Y’all go tear em up!
