I used to finish about 1800 head of domestic hogs a year, guessing domestic hogs would skin about the same I always skun them hanging from the back legs like a deer, and would cut slits in the skin to hook my fingers in to pull down on the hide ( it was greasy) as I cut.

We hauled hogs every week to market, about once a month the local butcher in town would call, and we’d drop 5-6 off when we passed through town, he had a skinning table and a block and tackle to pull the hide, similar to the video…He was pretty fast around 10 minutes a hog, a little longer when we’d be visiting

I know the guy in the video is an expert and makes it look real easy but a boar or sow from the wild doesnt skin the same as he's showing in his videos. The wild hogs are TOUGH!
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

As the old saying goes, there’s a thousand ways to skin a cat, a quick google search shows guys ground skinning wild hogs, basically the same as doing a big game animal and packing the meat out.

I watched the video, very interesting. My friend's brother had a set up like that for hogs. One thing he said was the hog was killed minutes before he started the skinning. In the woods or field we usually have to drag it out or go get the truck, drive to camp... Then start the cleaning process.. by then the hog has cooled down and is not as loose as the one in video. We have a skinning rack with a tin roof, wood plank floor with rubber mat..and a boat winch. The video guy has awesome control of his knife when gutting..I would have got into the guts doing it his way.. I use a gut hook knife. I did see he was using a black handle Victorinox..I have same one but only use it when processing meat. I have been using Outdoor edge knifes the last 3 years.. I bought 2 kits, one has caping knives and gut hook skinning knives..the other has the excellent wild bone " boning" knife and gut hook skinning knife. The wild bone knife gets a lot of use during the deboning of deer and hog meat. I have several Dexter and Victorinox knives but the wild bone just fits my hand the best..

Only ever shot one, last year. Skinned it just like a deer. While stationed in Germany I helped the butcher that did several for my landlord. He didn't skin them. We shaved them and he cut the skin with the rest and they cooked and ate the skin along with the meat!. I get another and I think I'll stick to skinning it!
