Default Today Jan 21st..last day of 2024 deer season

I got a good buck during Archery and concentrated on the hogs after that.. now if I would have seen a big ole good one I would have likely made a shot.. I did not go hunting this weekend, I put 9 or 10 hogs in freezer and jars so I really do not need more meat ..started to go this afternoon but worked on my 1lb fighting robots instead. So the big spotted hog I wanted to shoot went by the stand i would have sat today.. but I likely would have already shot a big black sow that came by 15 minutes earlier and never saw her. There is a warm front coming in next week bringing SE winds and that is not good for my wet stand where the hogs are right now. So its time to get my skiff ready for fishing.. I did not finish working on it after the tree fell on it back in the summer. needs some fiberglass gunnel repair, steps for deck, trailer work and new trolling motor plus a few other odds and ends.. Just Cooked some big Brim fillets (mostly Tempura and 4 with seasoned cornmeal), hush puppies and cheese grits for dinner.. made wife very happy and packed some for her lunch tomorrow

How big of a hog is it?
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Have never seen this one in person.. but likely maybe 130-140lbs? not a giant but a decent one. I don't think I have shot a hog over 170 lbs on this property. I had a big barred hog on camera a couple months ago, almost always at night but could never catch the wind direction right when I had time to hunt.. He has not been around for a while, he might have gone 180lbs??

Our place is so thick, wet and hard to access..that we have to have a hog dog crew come on every 2 or 3 years..they live catch them. We had a trap guy try and he only caught a handful..the dog guys will get over 150 in a week. They said they got 1008 on our neighbors 6000 acres 4 or 5 years ago..it has open cattle pastures and woods..

Size: 47.6 KB this morning there was a few at this spot. I use my brush mower here on the trail into and a little bit around this place. Its a challenge and can only be done when it's dry.. usually in may/June or August as long as there has not been a tropical storm or hurricane
