    Default Scouts Tracking Adventures

We have been off to a slow start but Scout has been able to help out a few hunters so far this season.

She definitely loves her job. She couldn't care less about retrieving, she just wants to track. And I have as much fun watching her work as I do hunting.

The 4 labs we’ve had over the last 40 years come in handy for that deer that didn’t leave a blood trail, they make it look so easy pheasant hunting a lot with them all over the years, I’ve seen scent tracking, scent winding, and shooting in chest high grass/cattails they can tell shotgun noise direction and be heading in the right direction as you shoot, all you see is the grass/cattails moving as they go by…truly amazing.

Been on a rough streak of tracking deer that show back up on camera. Many people like shooting for the shoulder but as a tracker I can tell you I hate those shots! Small margin for error and if you pull up or forward then we are chasing a deer all over that is going to live.

Was finally able to get on one where the guy didn't aim for the shoulder, backed out after he lost blood and didn't grid search prior to our arrival. Almost made it too easy.
