H won't listen to me , that particular hog was what most would consider as trophy sized , he was/is a real serious big ole bruiser , his head was HUGE and he looked very similar to large black bear .
told H if you see him ,you best ear shoot him or we won't see him again anytime soon , sure enough he shoulder shot him and thought he was done for , but when a pig that big jumps straight up in the air and hits the ground hard and then stands up and shakes off the dust and then just calmly walks away ......prolly won't see it again is my thoughts ....

Once a shoulder shooter, always a shoulder shooter! Pretty devastating in most cases. That is a handsome buck.

larger boar hogs can take a shoulder shot with a solid caliber at close range and shake it off pretty darn well ,big pigs that ain't shot just so so , will for sure go go away ....
lost so many large pigs from shoulder shots it aint even funny , stand a better chance of finding a big one gut shot than shoulder shot , not kidding ...

I shot a large nasty boar with a 60lb recurve once... Shot was 9 or 10 yards from 12 ft ladder stand. Arrow penetrated about 2 inches and I watched him run 150 yards across the pasture..arrow pretty much bounced out of him. my buddy shot one with his 70 lb compound bow using aluminum arrows. The broadhead was pushed back into the arrow shaft about 1/4 inch. The shield can be really thick and tuff on those big boys. That buck in the first post is awesome, hope you have a chance at him soon.

he surely is a dandy mature whitetail for our area , problem is this though , there are several other large bucks hanging around in there from time to time and I "might" just whack one of them .....never know is me ....
