Blacks, grays, and fox are all separate species. Fox used to be dominant but now I see 10 blacks or grays for every one fox I see. The blacks seem to be the most aggressive now. See more blacks and grays with brown hairs. Interbreeding?

Black squirrels used to be seen predominantly in pine forests here. Now they are everywhere. Had a young fox squirrel around me all day Thursday before I shot my buck. It never barked or chattered at me. Blacks or grays would've been very vocal.

trust me on this , we only have fox squirrels and about NOTHING else in the woods will give you up quicker
ours are so noisy it gets on your nerves at times , and for sure don't let one see any form of predator ....
that there chattering might go on for a good while ....

Blue jays and squirrels, friend and foe. Sometimes they alert you that something is coming, sometimes they let everything else know that the mighty hunter is on stand

Oh man the squirrel and chipmunks keep my head on a swivel. The crows are crazy as well.
