    Default KABOOM time !

Long story short, we are covered up with bucks at our place . Probably around 20 give or take and lots of bucks we don't know .
A few are the ones that make your heart pound and some are just what they are , regular ole bucks .
So , Sunday H texts me and says he hasn't seen anything by 8 am in the morning , told him sit tight , they will come.
8:10 he texts me about a big 8 point he saw chasing a doe and wants to take it ....I say go for it bro .....
He shows me a picture of it about 100 yards away or so of him standing over one of our local does that he chased into the brush on the neighbor's place next to us , seems she don't like this buck and lays down in a plum thicket and he stays with her just staring .
I don't recognize the rack or the buck and told him smack him when he comes back to our place . H was about to give up on him around 9:45 and all the sudden she jumps up and bolts over the fence to our place . He pursues of course and then locks up at our fence , Seems one of our local 8 points meets him at the fence !
Well according to H there was some deer talk back and forth and then the stranger buck starts pawing the ground and raises his hair all up like a dog in a fight and our local 8 says ....hmmm
Local 8 goes back to the woods and mister wander dog starts down the fence like he might be leaving , well as he approaches a high spot in the fence where he can go under it , he does just that .....
stands in the middle of the road and looks around for the doe and or the local buck and broadside at about 125 yards.....
K A B O O M and then he illegally parked himself right in the middle of our road , which in turn caused me to have to tow him off ....
Sure glad H picked this one , he is not what I want on our does and he has never been on camera and that is the first and last time we ever saw him , just under 18 inches wide and looks to be a 5 year old buck with a not so pretty rack in my opinion ....H was stupid happy about it and so was I ...
Took him to one of my customers that processes deer and had him dialed up into Summer sausage , Breakfast sausage and German smoked sausage ,,,,good times for sure my friends ...

Our firearm season begins tomorrow. I'd be happy with a buck like that. Always a crap shoot on public land though.

I would hammer him if I were on public land as well my friend , but my situation is very different on our place and passing bucks like him does not bother me much , we don't need venison and to be sure a buck that size is a bunch , one thing for sure H is happy as heck about his harvest and it a pretty nice 8 point for where we are located , the rack is a kinda "scrunchy" though and the g 3 on the bucks left side is rather lame , still glad he isn't playing with our does

Fences are boundaries for people and deer. It isn’t that they can’t simply jump them, it is they use them as a territorial boundary line. During this time of year does wander along the fence. But a buck checks to see if his neighbor has been a cheating, and sneaking over to his side. I feel they will leave a hot doe to run an intruder away. Anyways, using some Dominant Buck scent, or a fresh tarsal gland, placed in a small bush just about 20 yards away from the fence will bring in the beasts. Works better than doe in esterus scent.

Women lead men to their destruction sometimes, too.
Maybe they will bite this one……

scents are tricky things , sometimes they do more harm than good , seen a terribly high number of deer run away from different brands like you set them deer buttocks on FIRE !
one buck , one time got a wiff of something from the store ( code blue ) that made him do a reverse so fast he about left his hide right there .
another one I put out ruined my chance at a coyote as I waited to shoot until he sniffed the scent stuff from the bottle you hang up with the wick out of it ...
THAT dog literally did a flip and yiped like he was hurt as he left faster than the speed of light !

Since I started using Raw Frozen Scents as attractant and Scent Thief as a cover scent my negative responses have been zero and my success rate has increased. Lots of deer within 10 yards, eye to eye level. Lots of factors to consider though. I like to experiment and get a chance to spend a fair amount of time in the woods. YMMV. Good luck.
