Up in smoke
Fellow deer hunters...
I went to check my cameras today as I'm planning on hunting tomorrow. As I approached the farm I noticed the neighbors were doing a controlled burn on the hillside, less than a 1/4 mile from where I hunt. About 10 guys with flame throwers clearing away the underbrush. Smoke is funneling straight up the holler toward my section of woods.
How is this gona affect this weekends hunting??

DNR is burn crazy around here, they burn in spring until june15th and fall until the snow flys(no cover for winter)Walk a burn area and the amount of nest's destroyed every spring is huge...but they are all collage educated from the big city and know what there doing
The birds will renest they say!!! Some do,it's easy to tell were they burned there will be birds with chicks running in mid Augest when they should be 3/4 grown. The "dink" birds as we call them don't winter very good.
The deer are used to smoke in the air around here...Good luck hunting.

wildlife dudes are educated but often do really dumb things so no surprise there. as far as how hunting affected could be to your benefit as obviously all that activity will make your hunting area more of a safe haven.
good fortune! I have used hunters flooding into a public area to my benefit by going into it by farthest way and letting them push deer to me. or construction or harvesting will do same.
my guess is they ran everything in the county to your place , bet there are better numbers of everything on your place until it settles back down and some of them go home ....
