    Default Fixing it?

Does neutering a hunting dog change their effectiveness? Curious to hear y’all’s opinions on this. I’ve heard it both ways

I know a fella that was "neutered" when he was 22. He's 69 now and still hunting!

I’m a firm believer that it won’t affect their hunting ability, actually can possibly improve it because they will not have their minds on the ladies.

I am in agreement. Doesn’t affect their hunting at all. Never affected our coon dogs.

whatever they were born to do is what they will likely keep doing , not having the urge to reproduce might even make them more focused on the task at hand , seems like quite often when one loses focus on the task at hand it , it has some urge to reproduce thing going on, that goes from the background to the front of the line .

Never heard you mention coondogs. What did you hunt? I hunted hard for years & was in the stud dog business for a while too.
