I've known him since he was 3 weeks old. Had his pic on here last year too.

they can get big sir if they want for sure ....
my grandpa told me they could go over deer proof fences 55 years ago and to this day it seems he was right about it .....
Went to a farm tour seminar one time and they started talking about deer and how to prevent them from getting into the garden. Said they can jump high or far but not both same time. Also, said best way to prevent them is have two rows of cable, string or fence different heights and depths from each other with marker tape or fabric on them. Deer have a hard time seeing exactly what it is and gauging the distance and depth so they won’t cross. I don’t know but the one farm that had it around the perimeter had no issues at all with deer after installing it.

My son has been seeing this 7 point on his place, in the background, for a while now. This is the best picture we have of him from this camera.

We also have him about 200 yards away on another camera that’s point blank set up on a scrape in the woods.

So my son & I went hunting on opening morning yesterday. My son sees nothing where this buck is on camera. I’m probably a mile way on a different stand and around 8 a.m., up he walks. He stands in front of me at a holly tree pretty much how he’s standing in the second picture. I tried to get him right under the chin and I aimed at the white patch on his chest.

Missed! I haven’t missed a deer in years, but I clean missed this guy. He stood there 5 seconds after the shot, then ran off. He was not hurt. I double checked and found no hair or blood.

I hope he hasn’t left the neighborhood. I feel like I messed up my son’s deer. I shouldn’t have taken the shot. I wish now I had just taken out my phone and took a video instead.

    Darn!

I hope so. My son & I both have to work all week so nobody will be messing around in the woods until next Saturday morning. I feel like he’ll hang around & come back when the does get heated up.

My experience with bucks are that they have a “home” area and will stick close. When does go into estrous all bets are off though. Find a scrape and hunt close by.
