High numbers sometimes lead to disease. Always a balancing act, eh?

the locals balance the herd a bit and the coyotes get a fair share of them and most of the deer look pretty good at our place for a drought year ...
there is one suspect spike though that looks like it has some sort of an issue , pretty thin and boney .....might be wormy ?

We have very high doe and fawn numbers. Bucks come and go so I think the ratio is pretty good. I am still after the big boy to turn him into jerky, pastrami and tenderloin steaks.

and folks tend to think when I shot the big 10 point 2 years ago it is bs that he jumped over the feeder with ease ....
i seen it with my own 2 eyes and have seen a big doe with a medium doe go over 8 foot tall deer fence as well ....
they can get big sir if they want for sure ....
my grandpa told me they could go over deer proof fences 55 years ago and to this day it seems he was right about it .....
