Default does protein feeding work ?

not sure, but to be sure they eat 100 lbs a week of it FAST ....
kinda expensive to say the least ....
one thing for certain , one or 2 running around our place look pretty nice ...
I mix feed in my demand feeder , cattle cube , 18% deer pellets and corn ....
one buck really makes my heart flutter a bit .....
itchy trigger finger syndrome to say the least ....

Maybe ask your Fish and Game biologists what they would recommend. Might save you some money, or...

Some beauties there sir! There is a huge market on supplemental feeding for whitetails for sure.

truth in those words , most of the commercial seed blends sold in these parts are not worth a flip , and many other products on the shelf are just as useless .
lots of those "easy" to grow mixes die right when they come up "IF" they come up ....just saying
not to mention some of the scent things too , seen a few deer leave their buckskins behind after a slight whiff of said deer magnet products ....
as far as the feed goes , apple scented corn dont draw any more deer than plain corn and them there acorn smelling products and the list goes on right down to them big red rock salt blocks , deer in these parts forgot to read how great all that stuff works in the fine print ....

I have been putting out the Grainiac XL blocks in a new to us area near a water source. I’m averaging 15 pics a day of deer in there eating on that block. If I figured right, it might last 10-14 days. I also have a gravity feeder loaded with 16% deer pellets that they like pretty well. Definitely see improvement in deer movement and antler growth already.

not sure why , but none of the zillions of deer feeding blocks draw deer in here , I put out several over the years and have yet to see a deer on camera eating them ?
coons squirrels and hogs like them here , but not deer , I did drop out a pink block of some sort they seem to like a bit and regular ole cattle trace mineral block they lick on once in while too ...
deer here rarely eat apples as well and dried black eyed peas are on the no thanks list too ....
watched a buck at the feeder one day moving the apples away with his hoof to eat the corn ...
not saying around the corner they might eat some of the stuff for sure , but just not in my part of the world , we run 6 cameras on 4 feeding locations in our little woodlot and to be sure it is evident what they like and don't like in these parts ....
the protein might be growing horns better though , not totally sure on that part is me
