He wouldn't take a chosen buck until it was 6 years old at full maturity. His trophy room was ridiculous with buck heads that looked more like bucks out of Saskatchewan, Canada than Virginia. He was a Vietnam Vet who did 3 tours as a forward observer & saw lots of bad stuff. He never expected to come home and had his family invest his pay in the land he wanted. He ran a couple of huge distribuitorships that made him tons of money, yet you'd never know it. He was one of the nicest and best peopke I ever knew.

We try to let ours get about 5 or better before we try to harvest them as well , but the local environment is pretty tough on them and our place is too small for much in the food plot area , and lack of rain to grow it as well
