It got dry enough to mow some of my walk in roads and trails. I found i can get to stand quieter and get a lot less ticks by mowing..another thing I used to do was to lime and fertilize these mowed roads..the deer love the sweeter more tender grass. This area was logged last year..used to be a nice shady walk to and from tree stand. The timber company will replant with pine trees around December or January. They will push over and burn all the oak trees,

there is a ladder stand 30 yards to the right in a small oak hammock. I have taken a few bucks and hogs there before they clear cut around it. There are some good bucks walking in and out of short pines on the left..lots of does to so I may have a good chance at a decent buck in archery season. I mowed here yesterday, there is a road in front of truck..I mowed it down to 2 inches yesterday with zero turn.. I started at 10am and was done by 2pm.. had a couple shooter bucks walk by camera before 8pm. Rained last night and today so newly exposed grass will benefit and provide browse for the deer. For some reason I have not got a hog picture in the last 3 weeks..I'm pretty sure I will get covered up with them shortly..

Put this camera up yesterday. I got a good for our area buck here first afternoon of archery season last year. We have been seeing a big bodied 6 point the last 3 years. For some reason we don't think he has never had more than 6 points. I'm thinking this is him, could be a different buck. Glad to see he made it thru last years season.

Shame that the logging company will cut and burn the oaks.

This big 6 or one similar has been close enough to me for a shot...But I already filled my 6 point "tag" and let him walk 5 yards from me..We have rules at our hunt Club. One rule is first buck has to be at least a 6 point, second buck needs to have at least 4 points on one side(prefer it to be an 8 point or better)..3rd and final buck has to score at least 100 inches. A 100 inch plus buck is pretty rare on our place. I can only remember one being taken in the last 9 years.
