.350 Legend?
My 48 year old daughter is looking for a new deer rifle. She has hunted with a 30.06 in the past. I'm thinking the .350 Legend would be a better choice for her now. Any opinions or feedback?

My choices would be .270 or 25.06. The 270 is a nice flat shooting caliber and relatively inexpensive. 25.06 shells cost more but I have one that can drive tacks.

Used .243 for years. Certainly will get it done. Where I hunt 100 yards is a long shot. I went to the .450 Bushmaster last year and love it. Too much recoil I think for my daughter, especially since she won't be hunting in her Princess Palace anymore. .350 Legend is also legal in our shotgun zone and has been legal the last 2 years during muzzle loader season here.

Considering the rules I would certainly go with the 350 legend. Out of a short and handy volt gun it would be a good critter getter. Certainly put some venison on the table

I put a AR style 350 legend together a couple years ago. I used a 16 inch long Faxon barrel and a decent 3.5lb pull trigger in the lower. Have shot a couple of wild hogs with it using all copper bullets from Bear Creek ballistics. Recoil is very mild.. even with the KAK Flash can (Blast forward device) instead of a muzzle Break. 350 Legend is legal in states like Ohio for deer hunting. I also have a 450 bushmaster it has more "kick" or "felt recoil" to it but less than the 30-06 I used 20 years ago from Florida to Texas. 7mm-08 in a bolt action rifle is pretty popular with my friends in Fl and Ga. One of my buddys has a Ruger in 350 legend with a 22 or 24? inch long barrel that groups really good out to 200 yards.

a bit confused, why would a centerfire be legal to use in a shotgun or muzzle loader situation and or season and then ?
recoil is never noticed in most cases when its a live target anyway .....cept for my homemade shotgun ,,,,
a highly rifled up 20 guage shotgun with a scope is probably a decent thing to consider given the distances and lessened recoil , not to mention the knockdown included with such a large lead moving so slow and will bust brush too ...
AND ease of ammunition acquisition , a nice rifle in an odd caliber with no ammo is a pc. a pipe .....my daddy taught me that btw

Straight walled cartridges, less concern with extended range shooting. The muzzleloader exemption is I'm areas of high deer density in an effort to decrease deer populations and increase hunting participation.
