Wild Hogs seem to either be lucky or smarter than me the last year...We are now able to access our Hunt club so I went over Saturday with a 4 wheeler to see what the loggers had done. I took my trusty AR in 6.5 Grendel along for the ride..no surprises and I found our 3000 acres was quite dry. I did see enough fresh hog sign and thought I might jump one or two..I didn't. Sunday morning I went back over with my pull behind Brush mower..Dry conditions are rare at our place and it was a good time to mow my trails and a few pine rows before the spring rains. I did not put the rifle on the 4 wheeler since I was mowing some pretty ruff brush. So of course as I was mowing one of my grass roads two 65lb boars run up to me and turn broadside at 20 yards.. and stand there for at least 30 seconds. It's like they know when I don't have a rifle with me.. We do have pork in Jars and in freezer so we are good for now. This morning my friend texted me that she has another hog or two hanging out on her farm..they come by when she is feeding her animals to steal food from her critters. I got two last time she called. Going over tomorrow afternoon to help her out, she said they are trying to get into her hog pens.
