Default Up in New hog stand today

Found a good spot to put up a 15ft ladder stand last weekend. Hunting it first time today..its Between 6 year old pines and 60 plus acre swamp/wetlands. Plenty of rooting, fresh tracks, etc. When I walked in there was rooting under and around ladder... Wind good out of North. Gor in stand about 4pm..at 4:10 I hear hogs 50 yards NNE in the short pines..but it sounds like they are feeding NW away from me.. I'm hoping they will circle back before dark. I usually have no problem taking a few each year.. Somehow they keep out smarting me...Name: 1119221541.jpg

Helped a guy here in town pull one in and went to his place for a pig roast. Boy was that stuff good! He has a big bar-b-q he made from a 55gal barrel. he started a fire in it with Juniper and got it going good with lots of wood and let it burn all night. next morning he wrapped the hog in tin foil and put in in there and coooked over the coals about 12 hrs. Boy was that good!

This is another of my hog stands. The land owners had the money trees (pines) cut a few months ago. Getting more Turkeys and Bucks there now than hogs and does. The past 6 years I have taken a few hogs at this spot but now that it is more open it has changed. The pic is of Osceola Turkeys they are only found from North Central Florida south.Name: 9a578f03-b5e9-4817-9c38-a07acb61fba3.jpg

Looks like a great place to be come spring if you hunt turkey, our hogs don’t seem to mind a bit a sparse cover , but sure love the thick stuff , thigh high cover is what they seem to prefer here .
